| Speak, write Arabic? - Hello and Salaam Alaikum! =0)
I'm 34 and live in Indiana in the U.S. I converted to Islam almost three years ago and have been struggling (mostly by myself) ever since to learn Fus'ha/Qur'anic Arabic, without alot of success, lol. The one-word-at-a-time thing just isn't working. I do know a little Arabic, but other than prayer and a few greetings I really don't know much more than some of the letters, etc., and a few of the basic rules. I'd like to be able to read Arabic, hopefully at least some by the end of the year, but for now conversational Arabic would be great!! I'm not wanting to learn any dialect yet, if possible, but I'd prefer Iraqi dialect if any, since that's where my husband is from. Later I also need to learn written Arabic (so that no matter where I might be, for example, if I get separated from my husband, I can ask questions, buy food, read signs, get a turnequet for a bleeding stump, etc.), and also need a better way of memorizing Qur'an without having to... well... force myself to remember what it is I'm saying while I am saying it. LOLLL =0P I'm looking for a female teacher (no men please, no offense, my faith doesn't allow friendships with men), and if you're in/from Iraq that's even better, since we're going there to visit my husband's family after Hajj, insh'Allah! We're Shi'a, but I have Sunni and Christian friends too! =0) Thanks to any who respond! Zaynab | |
