Bengali Lesson 5 - Hi Friends,

I have another lesson in Bengali for you this week. I want us to learn some more about sentence structure in Bangla.

I know Bengali - ami Bangla jani;
ami - I
Bangla - Bengali
Jani - know

To change this sentence to a negative, I do not know bengali the phrase "na" is the negative statement. Therfore, to say:

I do not know Bengali - ami Bangla jani-na.
jani-na - don't know

If you wish to ask the question then you would say - Do you know Bengali - tumi bangla jano?
tumi - you
bangla- bengali
jano - know

The definite article "the"
boy = chele
the boy = chele-ti

The indefinite article "an" or "a"
I want an apple (one apple) - ami akta apel cai
They have a son (only one)- odher akti chele ache

Try this out and have some fun, see you in a week.
