| Bengali - Hi Iam also interested in learning Bengali and Tamil. I know a little bit of Begali and no Tamil. I know that the greeting in Bengali is "Apni kemon arsen?" This is a formal introduction and means "Hello - how are you?" What is the Tamil introduction. | |

| More Bengali greetings and gramar - Hi, Thanks for your response and the Tamil lessons - I will try it out tomorrow on my Tamil friend. I was begining to think that no one wanted to learn or teach me a language. I have another lesson n Bengali. There are three forms in Bengali for personal and possive pronouns they are: (1) Polite (2) Informal (3) Intimate. The form you use as a pronouns depends who you are talking to, if you are speaking to an older or younger person. Generally its safe to use the polite form. An example is as follows: English (1)Polite (2)Informal (3)Intimate I (1)ami (armee) you (sg) (1)apni (upnee) (2)tumi (toomee) (3)tui (twoee) he/she (1)tini (tinee) (2)se (say) we (1)amar (am-ar) you (pl) (1)apnara (ap-nara) (2)tomara (to-mara)(3)tora they (1)tara (2)tara So the welcome introduction for polite form in Bengali would be: Introduction: Apni kemon arsen -(Lit:you how stand/go?). reply: Ami valo arsi - (lit:I well am. Generally the sentence structure in Bengali is: subject - object - verb. I hope this is helpful for you - is this the sort of thing you were looking for or were you at a more advanced level? | |
