| vil vs skal - I know the word [b]vil[/b] to mean [i]want[/i]. But, I'm wondering whether the future tense [b]vil + (...verb)[/b] is right, or should it be [b]skal + (...verb)[/b]. I wonder this only because my verb conjugation source (verbix.com) is getting Danish incorrect often. Can I use [b]skal[/b] to conjugate the future tense, or would that just sound funny? Do Danes find that saying [i]vil[/i] doesn't give the wrong impression of 'wanting', instead of merely saying what 'will happen' in the future?
A couple of examples of verbix.com mistakes I'd like to divulge; Freja has already shown that its past tense congugation of [b]vise[/b] (to show) is incorrect. It lists it as [i]visede[/i], when it should be [u]viste[/u]. But another mistake is its present tense of [b]vide[/b]. It lists it as [i]vider[/i], when it should be [u]ved[/u], unless I'm mistaken. Also, I assume that [b]ville[/b] is the correct conditional future tense. eg "I would do this." --> "Jeg ville gøre det der." Lastly, I've seen a few different ways of saying please. - "[b]vær så venlig[/b]" <---I always use this one, at the moment. - "[b]vær rar og[/b]" is one. But, it looks wierd to me. Is this one used much? I'm told this one is used at the end of a sentence, where the first one is used at the beginning. Are there others? It depends on the context. "Vil" also means "will" [b]Jeg [i]vil[/i] gøre det i morgen[/b] - [i]I will do it tomorrow[/i] [b]Jeg [i]skal[/i] gøre det i morgen[/b] - [i]I have to do it/must do it tomorrow[/i] If that is what you meant? "Jeg ville gøre det" is past tense. "vær så venlig" - Vær så venlig at række mig smøret "vær rar og" - Like the fist one it should be "at" instead of "og". "Og" is only used when spoken. Vær så rar at række mig smøret. A cup of coffee, please - En kop kaffe, tak Yes please - Ja tak Please! - Jeg beder dig! Må jeg ikke nok? Vil du ikke nok? Kom nu! Please give it to me - Vær sød at give mig den/det It's called "..og nogle flere danske spørgsmål" "flere" because a question is not something you can "touch". "Danske" because "spørgsmål" is plural. Har du førsøget 'copy-paste' den skriflig delen på din email adresse, og at 'delete' det her beskeden? Da kan du 'submit' den ny beskeden fra din email. Men måske har du gjorde det allrede.(?)
