but I have one remark here~ "What do you think about ... (what do you think of ... ???)" should be translated as "Wat vind je van ...?" in most cases. It sounds more natural. Your translation, "Hoe denk jij over ...?" is more like "What is your opinion on ...?" What do you think? Jan | |

I have a question, if I may. For the first two phrases about being interested (and not interested) in politics, my professor taught us that it is only possible linguistically to use the preposition "voor" with the verb intereseren or zich intereseren. I see the preposition used in the translation is "in." Would someone please let me know which is considered correct? Do both work? Dank je wel! | |

that's a good question. Well lemme try to explain though I don't know what mechanism causes the difference.. "geinteresseerd zijn in ...." is a fixed combination "(zich) interesseren voor" is the other case both can be used to translate "to be interested in ...." [1] hij is geinteresseerd in dieren (He is interested in animals). [2] Hij interesseert zich voor dieren (He is interested in animals). The first one, "geinteresseerd zijn in ...." denotes a fixed state whereas the second one could also be used to translate "to become interested" or "to interest someone". I think if you want to say you're into something, we use "ik ben geinteresseerd in ...." most of the times. I hope this is uefull for you. | |

het was absoluut geen probleem hoor! Ik vind het zelf een uitdaging om de Nederlandse taal zo duidelijk mogelijk uit te leggen, ook al is het soms niet logisch. Als je nog meer vragen hebt, schroom dan niet deze te stellen! A few remarks on the sentence you wrote, which was pretty complex, but nevertheless almot good! : [1] "vragen" needs an object so it would be "Ik wilde dat/het vragen, omdat ...." [2] "know which one is right" is "weten welke waar is." [3] "je wil" should be "je wilt" stem + t (but reversed it would be "wil je") [4] "Dank je nog een keer" (Thanks again) sounds strange, we'd say "Nogmaals bedankt!" groetjes, Jan | |
