Dutch Translation - can anyone tell me what this means....

Het leven is hard, de mensen worden bang

The translation was almost good: the life is hard, the people get scared.

No that's incorrect... Het leven is hard, de mensen worden bang, I would translate it (freely) as: "Life is tough, people become anxious. BTW, it is not common to put articles before the nouns in English in this case.
