| Emglish Major - Pl.refer to my arcle under ' all languages" and dated 2004.10.09. and to a response of even date.
This shows that work is available and that a problem,an enormous one, exists. I solicit your help-English Major,pl. There are only five(5) vovels in the Human tongue.Just as much there are only 7 notes of music in the musical sounds. I believe that the claim that there are 12 vovels in one language(Tamil) ,ten in(sinhala)are all errors of the Authors of today. You being a major in English, between us there is no problem on the number of vovels. the number is five. As at today they are a,e,i,o and u..All languages recognise the existence of vovels.and have defined what vovels are. Non of us in the PhraseBASE forums need to be reminded of the definition.Do you? The vovels in the English Language are not vovels ,not all of them. 'a' is a vovel, but, to be recognised it as a vovel it must have independent pronounciation of'ar'. but it is not so.Further when 'a' appears alone it is pronounced as'e' as in the word 'escape'.thus are the errors of'a', which has attracted our attention in finding of a universal script. 'i' this letter is not a vovel by the definition.it is now being pronounced as 'e' apparently because 'e' has given its sound to 'a' as shown above. Please consider these comments ,considering that it is being asked in serious interest, in finding the "Universal Script',with a view to satisfy learners of all languages. thanks.
