| They seem alike - We'll devote this thread to English words that many people confuse because they're similar in spelling or sound. Many of these errors belong to foreign students and natives alike.
Let's start with words that appear in this post. we'll/well: These two words don't sound alike but have the same letters. "We'll" is a contraction, or shortening of two words into one. It means "we will". The apostrophe(') shows that letters are missing. "Well" is an adverb (action describer). It indicates a good action, something done positively. "Well" can also be a noun (thing) that is a hole in the ground that provides water. (I must close now, unexpectedly. I will add to this post soon.) | |
