| Can anyone teach me Austrian?? - My grandma is from Austria, and I should learn Austrian because she promises me that before she dies she will travel one more time , and that place just might be Austria, her homeland. So if anyone knows any could you teach me some Austrian? | |

| - The differences are not too hard to overcome. Most of it is just accent. Regardless, all german speaker should be able to speak what is called, "Hochdeutsch" or high german. This is a stardard and what is taught in schools all over the world. Please let me know if you have any questions. | |

| - A lot of people make the mistake of using "Hallo" as a direct translation of the english "Hello". While Germans do say hello, it is more often used to get someones attention, say on the phone, rather than a greeting. Survival phrases: "Wo ist...." (vo ist) = Where is... "Wie viel kostet das?" (ve veel cost-et das) = How much does that cost? Sprechen Sie Englisch? (Sprechen zee eng-lish) (Use a harsh 'ch' and the 'eng' is how it is spelt, not like the english 'ing'lish) = Do you speak English? | |
