Want to learn Kurdish! - I want to learn Kurdish, and I don`t know a single word. Or that`s not true, I learned a few words from a Kurdish friend. Wallahi = sky?
Can anyone help me? If someone is interested in learning Norwegian in exchange, that`ll be fine!

Blurb - Alrighty! I know NOTHING of Kurdish, and I really want to learn it because...I am Kurdish. I think it's sad that I don't know any of it when I'm so proud of it.
I can teach a good deal of Spanish in return, if anyone wants. Is there anyone in this forum that actually KNOWS Kurdish?

- Well here i am! just stumbled across this forum and suprised to find so many kurdish enthusiasts and not a single educator.... well I be damned!

Word needs to get round about this forum, am sure there's a rally of other native speaking kurds willing to help.

But for now I will stand as the 'Kurdish Speaking Almighty' and will try and answer all questions (ahm..) to the best of my knowledge so please feel free. :)

And Psyche, which part of Kurdistan does your friend come from because from where i come from (N.Iraq) sky = asman
(NOT ass man!) ;)

i'll be interested to know.

Interested in learning Kurdish - Hi! I don't know a single word of Kurdish either! I'm currently learning Spanish, which I'll need for work, and picking it up a lot easier than I thought I would, so I thought I might try working on another language. I had neighbors in college who were Kurdish, from Turkey, and I've also heard it spoken on TV lately, because of the Iraq situation, and I just find the sound and rhythm of the language appealing, to be honest, and would like to learn it. I used to tutor people in ESL(english as 2nd language)although it's been many years, and can also be of some limited help with Spanish.

- LL12, I don`t know which part he belongs to! He`s from Iraq, I think from the north (!!). But I remember he saying once that he and his fellow refugees spoke two different dialects. So maybe he is from the south?

Obviously the words wallahi isn`t correct! His Norwegian wasn`t too good, so maybe he meant heaven or something? At least, he was pointing towards the sky :D

Other words he taught me (don`t know how they are spelled):

Shev bas: Good night
Nenak: Nail
Woerre verre: Come here
Tchoni Bashi: How are you
Ez gelek bashim: I`m fine

Maybe you can figure it out? :)
