Devanagari typing - I've figured out how to get devanagari on my pc, but I'm not sure how to type conjunct characters. Can anyone help me out? Thank you :)

- Namaste,
I've had a hard time with conjuncts as well, Lindsay.
Can you tell me which keyboard you loaded? Some of them have conjunct capabilities and others don't (and there appear to be many different keyboards).
In Word, I am able to type two characters one after the other and they are sometimes joined into a conjunct, although I can't get all of them to work. I'm still on the search for a better keyboard....If I find anything, I will definitely send you the link!
thīk cha!

- Namaste :)
I have the Nepali Unicode Romanized keyboard, Devanagari inscript and Nepali Unicode. Maybe there are some fonts even that will help with the conjuncts. I have to use a combination of a "pinyin okay" font and the U.S. International keyboard when I'm typing words in pinyin for Mandarin. So maybe there is something similar with Nepali. I'm not sure, but if anyone could help us out that would be great :D thanks

- Hi everybody!

Lindsay, i have Nepali Unicode Romanised. It's very easy to write conjuncts ... just type a consonant + halant + consonant, and it binds the two consonants into a conjunct ... it works for me ... :))

i wonder, if here in the forum this font could be displayed ... i try now:

- Hey thanks :) I figured it out. Some of them still look different though. Is that just because the font is a bit different from the book I'm reading? I also have Teach Yourself Nepali.

- I still can't write in Sanskrit, but that is because my computer needs the windows XP CD to install the proper fonts :(

This was the post before mine:

- After having to switch computers I can finally type in Devanagari!

मलाई नेपली लेख्नु आउँछ (I can write in Nepali).

In order to make conjuncts, simply type a halant [्] after the letter and then type the next part of the conjuct directly afterwards. This command will create a new conjunct. For me the halant is on the english letter 'd'.

Hope this helps.
