Brasilian singers - Hello there,

Well, here in Portugal, we listen to a lot of brasilian music. My favorites are:

Caetano Veloso
Maria Bethania
Maria Rita
Djavan
Bebel Gilberto

Think you'll find them.
Good Luck with your portuguese learning.

Carla

Brazilian Singers - I am mostly a jazz fan but I like brazilian samba jazz a lot too. Try these:

Antonio Carlos Jobim
Elis Regina
Astrud Gilberto
Gilberto Gil
Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66/'65 (note, this is more American samba/bossa nova. They performed the austin powers song "mas que nada" when austin and vanessa are cruising las vegas in the shaguar)

I would also highly recommend a collaboration cd called "Tribalista's". This is more modern brazilian pop, but traditional elements.
