WHEN-expressions in Swedish - Hello,

I have digested the use of tenses in Swedish IF-expressions. It is very comfortable that the structure of these expressions is identical to the structure of English IF-expressions, except, maybe så. Is "så" absolutely necessary after every "om", or it may be omitted as English "then" after English "if"?

I have another question distantly related to the Swedish IF-expressions. I thought that the Swedish WHEN-expressions might also be similar to the English WHEN-expressions.

How will you translate this into Swedish, for example:

"When I receive money, I will buy a new jacket."?

Note that in English we don't say "When I WILL receive money, I will buy a new jacket", because WHEN, just like IF, already implies the future tense. However, in Ukrainian, for example, you use the future tense in both WHEN- and IF- clauses.

Does Swedish also use WHEN just like in the following English phrase?

"When people quarrel they usually stop speaking to each other."

Thank you!

I'm not sure if it's necessery to say "så" after Om but the language flows much smoother if you say it. It's almost always used when talking so i would recommended that you say it.

När jag får pengar så ska jag köpa en ny jacka (note the usage of "så" again)

Yes we do. we never uses future tense if we use "när". Though we can use any of the past tenses with it.

For example

"När jag har fått pengar så ska jag köpa en ny jacka".
In this case meaning what you are going to do a while after you've received them
