| Which language? - Hi all- I'm planning on going to Dumaguete (possibly Cebu) for 6 months from Aug '05. Thought it would be a waste to spend that length of time in a region without at least attempting some simple conversation.... well at least would like to buy a mango or something in the local lingo. Given the massive diversity of languages in the Philippines, can anyone point me in the right direction?
Kinda confused between which one to aim for- Tagalog, Filipino, Cebuano etc. and where exactly these languages are spoken. If anyone has been in the same boat as me (learning from scratch) and perhaps could recommend a basic conversation book with CDs etc. that would be a great help. cheers. Currently in Nagano, Japan "teaching" English :) Been here for 3 years- lemme out.

| - Hi there super...
Since you are staying in Dumaguete, you need to learn Cebuano (that's the dialect also spoken there). You can check the Cebuano Post under Malayo/Polynesian. :-)
