Altaic - I never heard anybody speaking Turkish before. I've heard that Turkish is related to Japanese, Korean and Mongolian before but it just doesn't make any clear sense why. I could probably find the answer by reading more info on the net but if anybody knows how it's related or if someone could give me his/her phone number(off-line) so I could call and hear how Turkish sounds like, I'd appreciate it. Geographically, it makes sense why Japanese, Korean and Mongolian are related but Turkish? What happened there?

- My skype name is abaybas, feel free to call me anytime. I'm from Istanbul but I now live in pittsburgh.
I've heard that same thing before and many times walking around I've turned my head thinking I heard turkish only to realize that someone is talking Korean.

- Hi uczyc,

You may find a very good answer to yr q. in history books. Homeland of the Turks is Central Asia not today's Turkey where, they migrated to from 11st century. You may now guess that, the Kazakh, Kirgiz, Uzbek, Turkmen, Azerbaidjani, Uygur(in China) speaking nations are the Turks stayed in their homeland.

- Yes, that is correct. The Homeland of Turkey was the Central Asia. So that must be why these languages are related to each other.
