Meaning of a surname: Salām!

I'm looking for the way one would write the surname Eltabet or Altabet (these are Anglicized spellings of course) in Arabic writing. I was told it meant "the wise man" or "the one that has his feet firmly planted on the ground".
Can you help me please?

Thank you so much ! Shukran
