Translating songs - I'll start us off with a verse from Selena's "Pictures and Memories"

here is a link to the song (it expires in 7 days):
http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2W8YMY5L5OC383QM6UPHRAY6BV

i translated the second verse from the song

ladee dhaakeratok
I have a memory of you

hadhehel-dhakerah tajalanee saeed
this memory makes me happy

enohaa menas-sah-rah hatee taarfto alayk
it is from the evening party when i met you

adhak-ker an lathamto alayk
i remember that i kissed you

enoha shay'a okhdateho menok
it is something i have of you

mojired sawr wa dhaakeraat
only pictures and memories

- In a perfect world
fee a'alamoon kaml

One we've never known
ka wahed lam na'alam

We would never need to face the world alone
lan yajeb an nowajh al alam lewahdena

They can have the world
yomknahom an yakodo al alam

We'll create our own
sa nasna'a alamoona

I may not be brave or strong or smart
ana lastoo soja'a aw kaweya aw thakeeya

But somewhere in my secret heart
walaken fee kalbeey al seeray

I know
ana arf

Love will find a way
al hobo sa yajeed tareek

Anywhere I go
ayo makaneen athab

I'm home
ana baytook

If you are there beside me
eetha koonta bejaneebe

Like dark turning into day
kal laylo ysbho naharan

Somehow we'll come through
wa bee tareekatoon ma sanajtaz

Now that I've found you
falakat athartoo alyk

Love will find a way
al hobo sayajeedo tareekan

from a song - Hi Remy,

What does 'ayaesh habibe' mean (I'm not sure if I wrote it right).

How do you say:
'from a song' in arabic
shukran remy!

[/quote]i'm not sure if that's worded correctly...are you sure it wasn't "ayesh ya habibi"? that means "i live oh my love". but "ayesh habibi" might not make much since..."i live my love"

from a song = "min a3*naya (agh-naya)

- hi andrea,

ayesha is a girl's name if the song is by saeed khalid then maybe you're talking about his song ayesha habibate which means ayesha my love.

if it's ayesh habibe then it means i'm living my love and don't forget that slang is also correct hamid :) cos instead of saying i love you , you can say love you and both are right ;)

- Ahlan ya 'teachers'! (what is teacher in arabic?)

Thank you both for trying to solve my latest puzzle.
I'm not sure who sings that song, but now I will go back and listen carefully again...

remyFriday 23rd of September 2005 10:48:42 PM
- afwan... teachers = modareeseen (male)

modareesat ( female) both plural

modares = teacher (male singular)
modaresa = (female singular)

Andrea123Monday 26th of September 2005 04:43:42 PM
- What if I want to say Thank you for one female and one male teacher all at once. Do I have to say:
'Shukran modares we modaresa' or is there any other way?

remySunday 02nd of October 2005 02:43:35 AM
- modaressen is enough :)

shukran modaressen does the job ;)
