Well spelled - I suspect that you'd be very surprised how different all these greetings sound from how they're spelled!

Danish is one of the most simplistic languages I have ever encountered - gramatically, only surpassing Esperanto in difficulty. However, learning the pronounciation is (almost) a hopeless task for the average adult learner.

god morgen: "goo' moan" (god morgen)
god dag: "goo' day" (god dag)
god aften: "goo' ah-ftn" (god aften)
god nat: "goo' nat" (god nat) <-- Wow, finally one that's guessable!

However, these greetings count as some of the most easily prounouncable sentences.

Of course, the suggested transcriptions of the pronounciation above is not 100% correct, and there are alternative ways of pronouncing the same sentences. The queen of Denmark would probably pronounce the Danish word "god" (=good) with a soft d (somewhere between the "th" (in "these") and the "l" sound), and the "o" would be an 'ordinary' "o" sound.)
"goD"

- Oh yes, Danish pronounciation... fun stuff that is!! :) go to speakdanish.dk - they have voiceovers that prove VERY helpful for the pronounciation. I was in Denmark a couple of months ago staying with my Danish friend and loved listening to spoken Dansk though! They thought my pronounciation was pretty good, but they got me on some tounge twister that had them in hysterics! :)

I'll try to teach you how to pronounce Freja:) It's always a little difficult to explain, but I will try. Have you ever read about how to pronounce the Danish letters?
In this case (Freja) all the letters are pronounced :)

New Zealand is simply called "New Zealand" in Danish ;) ..if it wasn't I guess it would be something like "Ny Havland", hmm, maybe not :P

Hope to hear from you, again!

- Hej Freja!

I looked up Esbjerg, and I have been to a place quite near... the island of Rømø. That was back in October of '99, and it was absolutely FREEZING!! :) But I was in Denmark back in August this year, staying up north of København, and it was EXTREMELY hot :) I think I saw 'NySeeland' written on some website for New Zealanders with Danish ancestory or something. Anyway I should probably go to work... argh :( Cheers for the reply, you can email me at twizzla @ gmail.com too.

Hav det godt,
Chris

Åh, Rømø? I know that place, well, shouldn't I also? :)
Freezing? Hehe. What do you think about Rømø and København then?
Really? "NySeeland"? Are you sure? Sounds weird to me..
God arbejdslyst ;)

- yep, freezing! I was wearing a huge jacket and the wind was still awfully cold! But this time around it was quite the contrast, as I was in tshirt and shorts every day, and still sweltered. Loved Koebenhavn! I shall return! :D anyway, off to bed so I can get up early for work :(

Godnat,
Chris
