Hello; - Well, yes. Hello. I\'m an American student, with parents hailing from Hong Kong (and giving be a good deal of the language), taking Latin (second year), have taken a year of French (which I ended up not liking), and I want to learn Danish. My friends think I\'m crazy, but...I\'m going to try.

Anyways, I\'ve been using a combination of the multitudes of websites that have been posted here, Danish newspaper sites for practice (since there\'s always new material, so I won\'t end up memorizing a script and not knowing anything), and this site: www.eulearning.net . So far, I haven\'t seen anyone post it, but despite its occasional finicky spots (sometimes, you have to try to run it several times before it works), it seems to be a very nice flash site. The style reminds me of traditional school-textbook learning, which is what I\'m familiar with -- I\'m still on the first unit, but it seems to help a lot with pronunciation.

I\'m mostly wondering why this site hasn\'t been recommended, as it seems to be rather good. Is there something horribly wrong with it? Or has it simply not been found?

Otherwise, hi, hope to spend more time here :)

- Vilkommen, Selskia. Hvordan går det?:)

Phrasebase is an excellent forum site which is linked to and cited by quite a few credible institutions, but it may not be that well-known, I can\'t really say. Perhaps the links you recieved are not high on forums, but more on lessons and grammar sites?
As forums go though, Phrasebase has a much more laid-back style than others. If your list of links includes forums, the only reason Phrasebase would have been left out, would be due to a lack of formality here. It\'s certainly not due to lack of quality, no;)
The purpose (or at least how things have turned out) for this place is for people to learn together. It rarely has the expert dictating the direction of matter. It has a resident native for most semi-major languages who often construct lessons and post soundbites, whereas others, like the Danish section here, has a native keeping an eye on things and answering any questions. Freja is our resident Dane:)
This site is more a place of practice and social presence than a formal lesson-based site. Unilang... http://home.unilang.org/main/index2.php... is another site which you may know of and like. It has a forum. It is a little more serious than this one. Phrasebase often helps learners via practice, using sentence-forming games and vocabulary games, whereas Unilang doesn\'t really do that. Both sites are places where you can ask specific questions you have. Unilang has a good habit whereby if you need a sentence translated, you write the sentence in a sub-forum, and everybody translates it into the language they\'re learning or their native language. Really though, the only difference is the people who particpate. Unilang is more serious, Phrasebase is more playful. Both are equally effective depending on which demeanor suits you most. My take on it is this: you learn more accurately and carefully at Unilang, but learn quicker and more fluidly here. Phrasebase people are higher on expressivness than accuracy, whereas the people at Unilang tend to be the opposite.
Their are two native/semi-native Danes at Unilang, and one here, so as you can see, Danish isn\'t a popular language, as such.

+++++++++++++

Freja er vores indfødt danker, her.
Unilang er en anden side, som du må kende alerede, og holde god om. Der er et forum derovre. Det er flere seriøs end herovre. De begge side, er hvor man kan spørge spørgsmål og når du have nogle...

*I give up translating, I\'m tired:)lol Hvor gik det, Freja? Ligesom et robot, ja? Tje, jeg kan leve fint med dette criticism:phehe

Anyway, welcome Selskia:)
