Learning to Speak Danish - Hej!

I am interested in learning to speak Danish. I have been doing Family research and found alot of Family that is still in Denmark. They speak different levels of English but would like to be able to speak to them in their native language. I live in the US so most of the time I will be online when you are online during the weekends becasue of the time difference. If anybody would be willing to help me learn to speak Danish I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

Learning Dansk - I would also like to say that I came across a website that helps you pick up the basics but I could not completly understand alot of the words they where saying. A Phonetic spelling of the words would be very helpfull. Does anybody know of a website where I can get that or would somebody be willing to help me?

Thanks

- hi. I don't know of any websites that give you the phonetic prounication of danish, but the book 'danish in 3 months' does, and comes with tapes/cds, as you really need to hear it. Its not like german or spanish where you can reasonably figure out how something is prounced and get it nearly right. Unfortuantly danish doesn't work like that! Also the berlitz phrasebooks give a phoenetic prounication as well. I have the norwegian one which is excellant, but the german one is a bit odder. Good luck with the danish ;)

learning danish - I have many friends and a host son in Denmark. I absolutely love Denmark, but especially the people there. I have been studying Danish for a short time and have picked it up fairly quickly, but it requires persistant study. I went to my local library and got the Pimsleur series...it is great in the car. I also got "teach Yourself"Danish by Bente Ellsworth and it is wonderful for grammar and the actual learning. Sobetween those 2 things,I am speaking conversationally already. I also have Rosetta Stone, but does not seemto help as much...good for pronounciation though. I practice online with friends and family in DK. You will love your visit, but plan onthe Summer..u definately would not want to go between October and May! Bitter cold and rain and wind constantly.
