Last one in, rings a bell ? :): Sb writes a sentence and the following person has to use the last word in a sentence of their own. The word mustn’t be changed, ie, we must respect form and number.

It would be interesting if native speakers used slang terms!!
(Ahh!!!, in that case, don’t forget to provide the “standard” version of the sentence, too!!):)

Make sure ur last word is not a proper noun.

Example:
Those are the hats to try on .

I’ve attended a lecture on how Eskimos grow peanuts.

So, who will start off with PEANUTS ?

Actually I meant "there is" but I will try and argue my way out hehe...It could be right like that, as Christmas is far away as in "over there at Christmas time". But yes it should be there is. Thanks Clive!

That last sentence is awkward syntax. Awkward word choice. Better: The door was left open to let the wind in.

And, you know, you really are not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition. But when they told that to Winston Churchill, he replied, "That is the kind of pedantry up with which I shall not put."

How does one make the words bold???

It's simple. :) Just put before the needed word [ b ] and behind it [ /b ], but without free space in the brackets.

Like in the example: I like Ania . :D

If you're still not sure how to make it work, use the option quote so you'll see my post in pieces, not in a form it appears on the forum! ;)

Why do you have so many tenses???
probably only a rhetorical question, but here are my two cents ;)

That's just because they were jealous of all the other languages which are said to be more difficult to learn than English. So they probably thought of something to make learning more difficult and came up with their tenses system.
And I have to admit: they were successful :D

I find it great there are so many tenses and each one is used in different situation. One needn't add additional comments to be understood well.

"Years ago, I went to London," is correct, but the other one "Years ago, I have been to London" doesn't sound right.

Many English learners worry too much about tense. If you stopped 100 native English speakers in the street and asked them about tense, one of them might give you an intelligent answer—if you were lucky. The other 99 would know little about terms like "past perfect" or "present continuous". And they would know nothing about aspect, voice or mood. But they can all speak fluent English and communicate effectively. Of course, for ESL it helps to know about tenses, but don't become obsessed with them. Be like those native speakers! Speak naturally!

Some games, such as chess and backgammon, make you think.

Elamelka1981
Friday 03rd of November 2006 09:27:07 PM
Some people should never think that they're the smartest ones in the world.

Sandra
Saturday 04th of November 2006 09:08:26 PM
The word world reminds me of a song: "We are the world, we are the children".

Elamelka1981
Saturday 04th of November 2006 09:49:10 PM
It is said that children never lie. ;)

Petra
Monday 06th of November 2006 06:04:57 AM

Sandra
Tuesday 07th of November 2006 07:14:11 PM

He missed the target because the sight on his rifle was out by only a few milimetres!

igg18018

Only a few millimetres away, the bear knew what was happening near its den.

mattie

Elamelka1981
Tuesday 28th of November 2006 03:24:31 AM

mattie
Tuesday 28th of November 2006 08:11:10 AM
Their house is made of many red bricks.

Danial
Tuesday 28th of November 2006 11:23:31 PM

Country is not just a geographical territory.

igg18018
Sunday 03rd of December 2006 06:18:11 AM
The territory guarded by an animal can be a dangerous area for strangers.

mattie
Sunday 03rd of December 2006 09:40:25 AM
In a crowd full of strangers it is still possible to be lonely.

Elamelka1981
Sunday 03rd of December 2006 05:10:29 PM
Nobody wants to be lonely, nobody wants to cry.

Ania
Sunday 03rd of December 2006 05:14:14 PM

Cry baby, cry!Cause every tear that flows into the ocean.

Elamelka1981
Sunday 03rd of December 2006 05:48:48 PM
@Ania: it's maybe because they are lyrics from a song of Ricky Martin&Christina Auguilera "Nobody wants to be lonely" ??;) this song was quite often on the most of Polish radio stations some years ago:)

Too much sun can harm ocean life.

Elamelka1981

Being a babysitter is very simple: you just sit near the babe! :p

Mariam87
Wednesday 20th of December 2006 09:48:05 PM
What are you doing tonight, babe?

mattie
Friday 22nd of December 2006 05:12:05 PM

Mariam87

mattie
Thursday 28th of December 2006 06:14:36 PM
