but one question, to which (exact) time period does the Old English, you're talking about, belong to? so when was it actually used?

Old English Period - It is generally accepted that the Old English period started roughly from around the Fifth century C.E. (Around the Anglo-Saxon Invasions) until 1066 C.E. (The Norman Invasion of England)
