Objects - Hi.

What's the difference between using eg: "shoma ra" and sticking the possessive ending on the end of a verb:
eg: didamash and shoma ra didam

(if that's even correct)

- first of all aeş is an ending used by the third person singular (he/she) and no endings are ever added to a conjugated verb, whihc means that didaemaeş is definitely incorrect. you must use shoma ra

Not true - Sorry, but the above response is incorrect. -esh, which indeed is a possessive suffix meaning "his", "her", or "its", can indeed be added to a conjugated verb (or the non-verbal element of a compound verb) in colloquial Persian, and serves to express the object.

"didamesh" means "I saw him/her/it", and is a more colloquial form of "u-ra didam". The equivalent colloquial form for the second-person plural/polite pronoun "shoma" would be "didametan" or, even more colloquially, "didametun", in place of "shoma-ra didam".

A couple of additional examples from page 73 of Wheeler Thackston's "An Introduction to Persian":

nadidameshan I didn't see them

mibinandesh They'll see him

bazesh kardand They opened it

- I appologize. I was answering based on the formal usage of the language. I mainly thought it was incorrect because of the use of esh instead of -i or etan.
