offline dictionary - both of these are English - Persian only.

Dornegar - http://www.iranonline.com/DorNegar/
Istgah - http://www.istgah.com/content/view/sel_325/id_23/
(click on unzip_dic.exe to get the program, the entire site is in Persian so I doubt most of you will be able to read it)

- Question: does there exist a Persian-English dictionary (and v.v.) with everything given in Latin alphabet (or both Latin and Arabopersian one), or a dictionary with diacritic signs for vowels in Persian? It looks like all persian dictionaries are designed for Iranians, and when you don't already read Persian, you can't use any dictionary because you never find vowels in...

- sadly I have not been able to find any, the only good ones I've found are not on the computer (they're books) and some are out of print. The only one I read that had good reviews were $80 and the best were $200 16 volume and a $180 8 (or maybe it was 6) volume dictionary. unfortunately I have found no computer-based dictionary that helps with pronunciation nor that goes from persian to english (except for ones online, I'll provide links to those in another post section (maybe ill call it online dictionaries))

And could you give me references for them anyway?

- I usually go to http://www.iranbooks.net/ but I havent bought any yet as the goo ones are about $100 and the 'master' sets are about $180 - $200 here. just look under dictionaries (the links are on the left) and search through them, theres only about 3 pages so not a lot to look through and some of them dont have pictures but the name of the 16 volume one is "An English-Persian Dictionary" written by Dariush Gilani and it costs about $800 so unless your REALLY enthusiastic about persin I don't suggets buying it since it costs more than a cheap new computer.

- I have never seen that option ever when buying something online. It might be possible to return it if it is not what you were expecting but I advise that you ask the vendor first before doing something like that to see if they would accept a return for that kind of reason.

- In US amazon, for most books you can have a look at their first pages (Table and first pages).

Some sources - I have a good pocket dictionary with English transliteration of the Persian words. It's Hippocrene. Plus if you want a limited english to farsi dictionary look up my blog: naomiberg.com/myblog and look for the dictionary on the sidebar. I update it weekly.

- Your dictionary is great for the collowuial version of the language however it would probably be easier to look up a word if u put it in a chart instead of habing them listed without any kind of divider in the middle, other than that its great and i admire the fact that u had so much time to write it, I barely have enough time to write the one here on phrasebase
