Some questions - Saalam!
I have two questions from my Farsi study. I am
using 2 sources: The online Easy Persian course (EP)
and an old version of Mace's "Teach Yourself
Modern Persian(Mace).

1). What is the Farsi word for "homework"?
EP gives maeshgh, but my concise dictionary
gives takliif. Do these mean the same thing?
One of my vocabulary words was mashghul= busy,
so does maesgh really mean "busy work"?

2). Numbers. Mace gives the following
rule for using numbers:
If the number refers to something inanimate
put "taa" after it
EX: Do taa mashin= two cars
If it refers to people or higher animals
put "nafar" after it.
EX: Do nafar mard= two men.
(Remnants of a classifier system, perhaps?)
But EP just uses
Do mashin and do mard.
Is the latter usage now the accepted one?

answer for homework question - taklif is more common. pronounced /tak leef/

and for nafar question: both are ok, but just use it with people, not animals.
