French Links Thread - Instead of rummaging through endless threads to find links, and having to ask time and again, I thought it would be better to make a special thread so links can be instantly accessed. To improve this thread's usefulness, it would be good if we give a general idea of what the website is like- it's good points, bad points, it's target learner (eg. beginner, advanced, or is it just a forum and not a course-based site) etc.

I'll start with one of our own Phrasebase friends' sites;

This site has only just begun. It was started by a member here named Caremelicious (Aaron). It is designed to be a French speaking forum so people can practice their French. So, if you just want to write about everything and anything, but in French language, this is what it is for.

This site is colourful and excellent fun. It is very helpful at helping you remember all the words via illustrations and interactive gameplay eg. hangman, crosswords etc. It seems that now, one must register inorder to use it. But, I will say it is worth doing if you're a beginner and need a bit of fun to help you remember words and phrases. This site also has Spanish, German and Italian, aswell as English (if need be).

This site has audio dialogue. The French host goes about a weekend trip through France. It is basics French (the part I've used, anyhow). It is quite entertaining. The dialogue is accompanied by photos of the situations taking place. eg. Buying clothes, going to a museum, asking someone where they're from etc.

This site is highly recommended. It has sections for beginners and more advanced learners. It has grammar sections, a forum, and audio sections. The audio section is especially good because it has a slow and normal speed option for the audio clips. The clips often teach you about French culture aswell. eg. Cheesemakers, Patiserie owners, and French bicyle tour operator explain to an interviewer what they do, the people they meet etc. And for beginners, there are dialogues with tourists and young French people etc. There's alot of variety on this site. (It also has other language sister-sites aswell- German, Spanish and a couple others)

Type the word in French, and all the conjugations will appear. Don't worry if you don't have French keys. It supplies a code for you to use on English keyboard.

I've only just found out about this. It English explains grammatical terms, and shows how they are used in French. There are three levels that you can enter, and each level contains grammar relevant to that level of ability. There is (at least) one segment with 450 French words and phrases with audio.

Okay, this is weird. I'm finding a bunch of sites about French now. I thought I'd found all the important ones, but now I know that that would be impossible. They're everywhere!

This site is in French... no talk of grammar, but it gives lots of examples sentences for verbs.
