Lesson no 3 - Just to escape grammar and rules for a while and make it more interesting. But grammar lessons [b]will[/b] continue so don't be too happy :)

no - ohi- όχι
hello!- gia! - γειa!
hello (to you) - giasu - γεια σου
good morning - kalimera - καλημέρα
good night - kalinihta - καληνύχτα
good evening/afternoon - kalispera - καλησπέρα
how are you? - ti kanis - τι κάνεις
very well - poli kala - πολύ καλά
thank you - (se) efharisto - (σε ) ευχαριστώ
sorry! - signomi! - συγνώμη!
i understand - katalaveno - καταλαβαίνω
i don't understand - den katalaveno - δεν καταλαβαίνω
Do you speak English? (plural)- milate anglika? - μιλάτε αγγλικά;
what's your name? - pos se lene? - πώς σε λένε;
my name is... - me lene ... - με λένε ...
let's go! - pame ! - πάμε !
how much does it cost? - poso kani? - πόσο κάνει;
what time is it? - ti ora ine? - τι ώρα είναι;
how is it going? - pos pai? - πώς πάει;
where is... ? - pu ine ...? - πού είναι...;
the hospital - to nosokomio - το νοσοκομείο
the police station - o stathmos tis astinomias - ο σταθμός της αστυνομίας, (or, simpler) η αστυνομία
the post office - to tahidromio - το ταχυδρομείο
Help! - voithia!- βοήθεια

totally confused - hey panos....
i am totally confused on the verb kano. you said, poso kanei, meaning how much does it cost. so i figure kanei means cost. but other sites say things like Το τι κάνουν meaning what they do... so wat exactly does kano, kanei, kanoun mean?

just got back from holidays and i have to go to work this night (snif ). Anyway, the verb 'kano' is like the verb do in english. It can be used in so many phrases and with many different meanings. The phrase 'poso kanei' is colloquial, it is everyday language, meaning 'how much (does it cost )'. You can say also 'poso kostizei' for 'how much does it cost'. So, think of the verb kano as the verb do.
