MacOSX typing in Greek? - I\'m using MacOS 10.4.6 and I can select the Greek Flag in my menu bar and type in Greek in, say, \"TextEdit\". But if I do the same in any forum it ends up like this:

????? ????? ????????.

So how do I get Greek characters to appear?

- OK, I can now write in Greek by the rather tedious method of typing into a Unicode-compatible web page creation program called \"GoodPage\" then copy/paste the resultant \"garbage\" HTML code into a forum window (Safari) and it appears in Greek.

So \"Yeia sas\" is pasted in as
Γεια σασ
Γεια σασ

Edit: Ha, I just discovered I can type in Greek in another forum by using \"Firefox\" instead of \"Safari\" web browser. Let\'s try it here. This should be in Greek:

Γεια σασ!

- Sorry, that should say code: §#915;§#949;§#953;§#945; §#963;§#945;§#963;

where § = ampersand \"&\".

- An alternative is typing in word, or using insert symbols, then copy and paste into the forum.

Typing in Greek with MAC OS X (Panther & Tiger) -
Originally posted by Anglos

I\'m using MacOS 10.4.6 and I can select the Greek Flag in my menu bar and type in Greek in, say, \\\"TextEdit\\\". But if I do the same in any forum it ends up like this:

So how do I get Greek characters to appear?
1. Open \"System Preferences\" from the dock
2. Select \"International\" icon from the first line of choices (\"personal\" menu)
3. Select \"Input Menu\" tab from the top of window
4. Check flag icon(s) for language(s) desired (ie.: Greek flag)
5. Check \"Keyboard Viewer\" (will let you see a character layout later on)
6. Check \"Show input menu in menu bar\" from bottom of window
7. Close window

And that is it. You will not see flag on the top menu bar of your screen. From right to left it should be to the left of the date and time.

All you have to do is click on the flag and switch back and forth when you need to type in a certain language.

I, myself, use English, Greek, Spanish, French & Italian. When you need to see where the letters are located on the keyboard, select \"Show Keyboard Viewer\" and you are all set.

Feel free to write to me if you need futher help.
