| possessive adjectives? - I noticed that 'my book' in Greek is 'book my', is there really no way to place possessive adjectives before a noun or pronoun, like 'his book', 'the child's book' and 'John's book'? | |

| - Hi detbarn In Greek the possessive pronouns follow the noun that 'belong' to. This is the word order and can't be changed, i.e. My dog ---> O skilos mu | |

| - But are these understandable? \"ένα μου βιβλίο\" \"ένα εκείνου του παιδιού βιβλίο\" | |

| - Well no. Maybe the person who you speak to can understand what you say but that does not make the sentences correct. What would you say to me if i say in english \"book his\" instead of \"his book\"? You would say that it is wrong. So try to keep in mind that when we are learning a new language we do not try to adjust it in our mother tongue because it will not be correct. I hope i helped. | |

| - Are these correct but not used unless one wants to emphasize the possessor? \"μου ένα βιβλίο\" \"εκείνου του παιδιού ένα βιβλίο\" | |

| - \"μου ένα βιβλίο\" The sentence is not grammatically correct because the form \"μου\" is the weak type of the pronoun, the genitive of the first person singular. This must be placed after the noun. The correct way to express this is \"ένα βιβλίο μου\", i.e. in the answer of the question \"what is this?\" \"εκείνου του παιδιού ένα βιβλίο\" Similarly, the word order is not correct, it should be \"ένα βιβλίο εκείνου του παιδιού\". | |

| - My- μου Your- σου His- του Hers- της Its- του Ours- μας Yours- σας Theirs- τους And this goes after the noun which it specifies. I think they have to have the accent as well (μού, σού, τού, τής τού, μάς, σάς, τούς) but I am not sure. I\'ll let you know. :) | |
