split infinitives - Would it be incorrect to use split infinitves such as in "να συχνά δει"?

- Hi detbarn
I don't know what the term 'split infinitives' means.
The phrase "να συχνά δει" is incorrect. The correct is "να δει συχνά" as in the phrase "Δεν μπορεί να δει συχνά τους γονείς του επειδή είναι μακριά" - (He) can't see often his parents because he is far away.

What about "συχνά να δει" and "να δεν [verb]"?

I guess the word that is between "to" and the verb is usually/always an adverb, isn't it?

The "συχνά να δει" is correct, it can be used in a phrase like
"Του τυχαίνει συχνά να δει..." - "It happens frequently to him to see...".

Now, the form "να δεν [verb]" is not correct because the negative particle "δεν" is not used in this case. It is correct if you use the negative particle "μη(ν)" which is like "not" in English, i.e. "να μη δει... " - "not to see...". The negative particle "δεν" is like "does not" in English (usually).

Take care guys, and Happy New Year to everybody

- That's a good explanation of the differnce between δεν και μην, Πανο. Ευχαριστώ.

Split infinitives remind me of Star Trek...to boldly go where no man..etc. :)
