| - Hi Mathieu! The explanation is very simple: Letters "מ" "נ" "צ" "כ" "פ" get different form when they come in the end of the word: מ-ם נ-ן צ-ץ כ-ך פ-ף The case of "א"(alef) and "ע"(ain) is different. Both of these letters have the sound of "a". But the sound is a little bit different. For "ע" the sound comes from the throat. Try it! :) But people, whose origin is from Europe, don't distinguish in their pronunciation between "א" and "ע", so you have the same sound. Of course, one should know which letter to write in each word according to grammar. | |

| - considering \"alef\" and \"ayin\" they once had different sounds .. but because europeans can\'t pronounce the sound of the \"ayin\" , by time it became more like \"alef\" . but in eastern hebrew \"ayin\" is still differnt Also letters \"Khaf\" and \"Chet\" .. \"Sin\" and \"Samekh\" | |
