A different aproach... - Namaste!!

Hi everyone! I dont know about you guys, but I feel like we need a new topic, to try and learn more all together. The word games are great, and I like them a lot, but I was thinking about a new start, let see if any of you may like the idea.

First of all I have to say that I have learned a lot of new words, but not too much after that, I think that maybe we should try to learn by topics... lets say that we write down a list of topics to check out.... ex. colors, numbers 1-50, numbers 51-100, verbs, fruits, vegetables, house things, body parts, and between 7 diff people we divide them each one saying the one that they ll take and trying to update the info lets say once a week. Maybe we could try too to learn by sentences too, maybe trying to investigate the things that we want to learn to say and sharing the info with the rest of us.... but i d say that we should try it giving as much info per posting as we can, so that we dont have to go look around so many diff pages and taking lots of time. And also, if we want to learn to say some specific sentences we should post them all together, and for all of our Indian friends that have been very kind to help us learn here, maybe you could try and translate the sentences that we post.... what do you all say guys?

Also you can just decide a topic and let us all know about it too.

I think that what s important is that we continue to learn more and more from one another.

If you think of a better way to improve this possible new way of learning post your replies so that we can all learn. Maybe we should start 2 different topics.... 1 just for the sentences, and the other for the rest, what do you think???

well if it s not a good idea... we can just continue the same way we have, right??

- cool lol,i think its a nice idea...maybe we can start a thread like 'last letter' dedicated just to body parts or a thread like 'word linking'dedicated just to numbers or foods or anything such....thats a nice thought of ur's.....so other PB'ers(in the hindi forum of course!)
what say?

you are right concerning the words. I have learned them, but not much more.
I, too, think that it would be more helpful to learn by topics so I'd go for your suggestion with the topics (one topic for each person). we could open a thread called "words by topics" or something like that and than every person posts there his chosen topic. and with the edit-button the person can add more words whenever he/she learnt a new one. so all the words belonging to one topic will be in one post. And to avoid confusion, corrections and new words other persons (not the topic-owner) know should be send by pm to the topic-owner not by a new post to the thread, that may be very laborious but I think it could keep the chaos under control.
Oh and perhaps a sentence to each word to see how it is used in a sentence (although I know that that might be too hard for most of us beginners, at least for me)
Well, nothing really new but I'm normally not very creative anyway.

@yoon: although I like the idea of doing these lists via games very much, I don't think that they would work very well. At least not with the last letter-game. That game would stop very soon, namely as soon as a word ends with a letter that no other word begins with.
And just to work space savingly (as lol suggested in order to save time and not to have to look around many pages) I'd prefer the one person-one topic thing because in the games much space is "wasted" (well, not really wasted, but you know what I mean) by avatars and sigs etc.

other opinions? objections? agreement?

I must say I m happy that you liked the idea. I also think that we may run out of words for the games in some time, and then what?.... So I say lets try and get ideas in order and give this forum some life plsssss!!!!!

Ok, lets get the idea all formed and then we ll start it in a new post, what do you say?

I wouldn t like it either to be like the word linking, I d reather have it by topics, so I say let get all topics together first, and then we ll look for them, or we may start looking for them while we still think of all the topics, does that sound good to you? And also the more words we post by topics we ll do it by editing our own posts, and we can also send pm to each other with the corrections if we see any so that we can edit them and not fill the pages with lots of space and not using too much space. This is Neila s idea and I think it s great by the way. Great thinking!!! :D:D ;)

So, here are some ideas for topics:
* verbs (as many as we can find, all efforts are valid)
* numbers
* colors
* body parts
* animal names
* different occupations (like doctor, arquitecht, engineer, ....like that)
* vegetables and fruits

So far that s what I ve got. I know this may not be easy to find, but I think that we may learn more and probably with a bit more order.

We can also start the phrases topics, so that we can know how to say some things. Now here s an idea for the phrases topic... lets see if you like this. For saving space and avoid confussions maybe 2 or 3 of us should try and be the ones that post them, and if anyone comes up with new phrases they can be sent to those 3 people and they can post them so that we dont have to look around for a long time. I know that we can not control anyone not to post anything else, but we can try at least to do it and by requesting everyone else to do it this way.... like I said, it s just an idea.

Anyway.... I ll start looking for body parts myself, how s that? and as soon as I have some I ll post them in a new topic.... How do you think we should call that topic? should we call it words by topics like Neila suggested, I like that so I ll say let gs go for that.... but any other suggestions are welcome.

I wish you all a great day guys and for all of you out there that are trying to learn... let s all give the most we can to make this a better learning forum and we need more participation from everyone so that we can do even better, so everyone lets participate more and more, the more we are the sooner and better we ll learn!!

- One more suggestion: we should ask anya (if I remember right she is the moderator of this forum) to make these new posts sticky so they'll keep on top even if we don't post in them for a while.
I like your idea with the two or three people for the phrases post. And I think it would be very good if these people were native speakers. no mistakes this way. but there are perhaps not enough native speakers there... i'd vote for yoon as one of these persons.
and the word-by-topics-post: I'd like to look for vegetables and fruits if that's okay with you. If there is anyone who would like to look for them as well, I could also live with the animals.

I´ve been reading your all new ideas about the hindi forum.Yes, i also think that all that will bring some activity here.I think that vocabulary is great, and i´ve learnt many words as well, but I´m in need of simple sentences, i only know "mera naam....hai" or "aap kaise hai?".I´m afraid that i cant cooperate much giving new phrases as im just learning and know a little bit.But i will sure participate in all your projects and give my suggestions.:)
