| mAhI ve - Namaste! I am new here, so let me first briefly introduce myself. I would like to get in contact with Hindi native speakers, and, for my part, I will be happy to help everyone with problems concerning Polish, German, or Sanskrit. Today I have just a small question: Probably some of you will have seen the Bollywood movie "Kal ho nA ho" and remember the song "mAhI ve". But what does "mAhI ve" actually mean? It seems to be something like "my beloved one", but I am unable to find any such meaning in the dictionaries. I would be very grateful for any help. Best wishes, Svenno | |

| - Bahut dhanyavAd! But I still fail to understand how we get to that meaning. Is "ve" pers. pronoun 3. pl.? And what about mAhI? The Oxford Hindi-English Dictionary gives only two meanings: 1. a kind of firework; moonlit place 2. a fish. Further help would be much appreciated. | |
