simple words! - Hi,I work in a nursery and we have a little 2 year old who does not speak much, although this is not unusual for his age and stage of development we know he can understand a little English.Mum is trying to speak English to him at home to enable him to pick up quicker. We feel that it would make him feel a little more at ease if we could speak a little Hindi when he is with us.Simple words such as mum, dad, drink, toilet, hello and goodbye would be very usful for us.Can someone please help?

Thanks, Tulip

- hey Tulip

Well, there are many words for "Mum" and "Dad" - you should check what he calls his parents. It could be "Amma, ma, mata" for mother and "Babul, baap or papa" for father. Hello and goodbye are both "Namaste". by drink do you mean "to drink"? the infinitive would be "Piina" (which, unless i'm mistaken, also means a drink), but to tell him to drink you could say "Pii" or "Piiyo" I'll try come up with some more words - I'd advise asking the parents, though, who can then also help you with pronounciation ;)
