1. Hvar er Rhsi? = Where is the town hall?

2. Hva kostar etta miki? = How much is this?

3. Sll, sjmenn: hva segiru gott?
Correction > Sll sjmaur: Hva segiru gott? = Hello sailor: How are you?
Plural > Slir sjmenn: Hva segi i gott?

4. Hvaan er hn? = Where is she from?

5. Hva heitir ? = What is your name?

6. br slandi? = You live in Iceland

7. Ertu me gir kennararnir Leeds?
Correction > Ertu me ga kennara Leeds? = Do you have good teachers in Leeds?

8. Er pa erfiur a lra slensku?
Correction > Er [a] erfitt a lra slensku? = Is it hard to learn Icelandic?

9. Hvar fst etta? = Where can I get this?

10. Hva er a frtta r?
Correction > Hva er a frtta af r = What's up with you? (hmm, there is probably a better translation, anyone?)

Yes, you cauld also say "Hva segir gott?" but the sentence "Hva er um a vera?" means: What's going on?!

Oh, I thought that maybe Hva er um a vera could be used as a greeting as well as an exclamation :p Thanks for clarifying!

"a" is used in many ways. I hope this makes sense to you.

Infinitive marker

to (a fara = to go)

Conjunction

that (hann sagi a sr vri sama = he told me that he didn't care)

so that (til ess a = so that), v a = just as

Adverb

wrong (hva er a? = what's wrong), the matter (er eitthva a? = is something the matter?), amiss (a var eitthva a = there was something amiss)

from (noran a = from the north)
vera alltaf a = never stop working
vera enn a = be still going strong
enn a = still in business

Preposition

(about movement) at, toward, towards, to, up to, against

(about time) during (a sumarlagi = during the summer), by (a degi til = by day), in (a kvldi til = in the evening)

(about changement) into (vatn var a s = water turned into ice)

in (a fullu = in full)

with (hva er eiginlega a ykkur? = what is it with you?)

after (a enskum si = after the English manner)

(this is from a dictionary I have)
