Synonymes Please! - Hi,

I am pregnant with a boy and would like to find a name in Gaulois or Celte that means \"STRONG\" or \"FIGHTER\" or \"ANGEL\"...

Can somebody help me with that?

- Your name sounds great!
Although, in French (wich is the main language that we speak here) it would be very hard to pronounce...
Your parents had a great idea and it must be sort of \"empowering\" to be called as such?

THANK YOU very much for your reply!

Dia dhuit a Diarmuid!

Conas tá tú mo chara? Conas sé Alanna agus Viviana?
Bheith as láthair??
Fáil ar ais! Cad é mar atá tú a Diarmuid!?
Cá bhfuil tú?

Ba mhaith liom cainte leatsa mar tá beagán Gaelige agam :(
Is maith sin scríobh (written)? :) Tá sé go dona :(

[/quote]

Níl sé go dona ar chor ar bith! :-) Tá cúpla botún ann (dar nóigh) ach is léir dom go bhfuil Gaeilge mhaith agatsa. :-) Nár laga Dia do lámh!
Slán go fóillín.

- A name. Colm, would Tréan work? If we were to make up a name and use a synonym?

Tá beagán Gaelige agam :(

Edit: I removed my original reply, sorry about that Colm!! I was so excited to see Diarmuid around, I wrote right back and forgot to include my name suggestion (the original point of the thread).

I know only a little Irish, so take it easy on me, ok? eeek!

- Ha oui,
J\'aime bien Lorcan...

A, a, E, e, I, i, O, o, U, u.

It\'s okay. All I said was that you had good Irish (mistakes taken into account) and to keep up the good work. :-)

I wouldn\'t go for Tréan here. I kind of shy away from using a modern adjective or noun for a proper name, unless it is used already, as in the case of the girl\'s name Aisling meaning \'prophetic vision\'.

Conor [\'coNe-r] is a modern fom of Conchobar. He was a King of Ulster. Otherwise there is Fionn [fueNe] and Oisín [\'Ush-ieNe].
