a little translation: For those of you living in the U.S. might know, Youtube is hosting a presidential debate.

I want to ask(in italian): "Do you think english should be the official language of the U.S?"

In case you don't know what "official language" means, it's just that english would be spoken in federal buildings and be written on voting ballots.
The reason I want to say it in Italian is because the people against making english the official language want to accommodate for spanish speakers, with no consideration for everyone else who has to learn english.

thanks
grazie

also, could you post the pronunciation? I don't want to offend Italian speakers with poor pronunciation

Hey there!! :D Here are my two cents, i'll give it a go, hoping to satisfy your request.

Since in english YOU rappresents both you as a singular subject, and you as a general mass, i presume in this case you are exposing the question to the latter, so i'm going to use the 2* plural person in italian: VOI. I'm also translating 'official language' as 'lingua ufficiale':

Pensate che l'inglese dovrebbe essere la lingua ufficiale degli Stati Uniti?

For the pronunciation, i'm uploading a file with the phrase. In a second i'll give you the link. :) (You might want to also have a look at this link, http://italian.about.com/od/pronunciation/Pronunciation.htm ).
