How is it translated into English?: Occorre quindi guidare i primi passi dell'autodidatta, fissando alcune nozioni basilari.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what "autodidatta" means... It's not in my dictionary. What's the context? Here's sorta translation:

Therefore it is necessary to drive(?) the first steps of autodidatta, fixing some fundamental rudiments.

I think that "autodidatta" is a proper noun, or the name of something. And they sound like instructions. I definitely would wait for a native's comments. :)

an Autodidatta is a person who is teaching himself/herself.
I found this on the Garzanti:
autodidatta = self-taught man/woman

Therefore it is necessary to guide the first steps of a self-taught person (?) (or a person who is teaching himself/herself, or a person who is studying by himself/herself), fixing some fundamental rudiments.
