Japanese Lesson Reorganization Project: After having struggled to sift through a mere 1/4 of the text in the Tomoka's Japanese Lesson thread, I've whipped up this draft of the first page to see if you guys think doing the whole thing would be worth the trouble. Please see http://home.earthlink.net/~hypnosnake/p1.html and let me know what you think.

Konnichiwa Psy-san,

Thank you for the hard work!
I'm sure it's really helpful ;)

Psy, I think putting the kana/kanji on these words might be good as well. It can get those of us learning kana a better shot! :)

Indeed, I had planned on doing that. This is still just a draft: functional, but ugly. The final will, when it is eventually completed, be pretty.

Thanks for the input!

I would be willing to help in any way that I can (as my time allows, wife is due with my 2nd child any day now). Psy, just e-mail or IM me if you would like my help.

Congratulations and bless your wife, as that's more pain than I'd ever volunteer for. Psy is a great name, y'know. ;) I would greatly appreciate assistance from each of you when the time comes... and when the time comes, I'll let'cha know.

Thanks a bunch!

Here's the site I had in mind. There are a lot of rough edges, I need to run it through W3C's XHTML verification, adjust the style sheets, images, backgrounds, and clean up the HTML significantly. That favicon is also temporary, though I do rather like it. :D Still, despite the work and testing remaining, it's functional and no longer ugly.

Anybody understand the title? A lot of consideration went into it. Let me know what you think, and please inform me of any problems.

I wanna add my thoughts on the "proper spelling of arigatou" part. Really great explaination, although maybe it should be made clear that "oo/ou" sound is "o + o", because the first thing that comes to the average English speaker is to pronounce "oo" like "u" (from our words "moon", "spoon", etc.).

yuugen-san,

Naruhodo(I see...),
I didn't notice that English speakers pronounce 'oo' like 'u'.

Thank you for pointing it out!

Yep, it's true. For instance, "me too" is said 「ミ テゥ」 not 「メ トウ」Most everyone studying Japanese will make that distinction right away, but all the same I'll put your expanation on my site the next time I update it. Thanks for the addition.

Sorry folks, but I've been slacking off! Here's page 2, short but sweet:

http://home.earthlink.net/~hypnosnake/tfe/tfe2.html

Page 3 is almost done (and significantly longer), and I've sifted through 4, 5 & 6, but they aren't nearly ready. All of the Japanese is in unicode. I have a lot in mind for the links section, as well as for the site in general, but I've been busy with other matters lately. Thanks for your patience!
