Korean Movies: Does anyone have any recommendations on good Korean movies to see? I just added Chi-Hwa-Seon (Painted Fire) to my Netflix queue, as I read good reviews about it. But I am always on the look-out for others! :D

As yet I've only seen one Korean movie, titled "8���� ũ��������" or Christmas in August, but it is a film I recommend. Were it not for its pacing, stellar camerawork, and excellent use of restraint, it would probably be just a generic love story. However, it somehow manages to overcome all of that simple, bittersweet, and memorable.

My favourite korean movie would be "The tale of a cinema". It is directed by one of the best in the world( hong sangsoo) who has won quite a few cannes best film awards including this one.
This movie is just so sweet and so brilliant. It is about a guy and a girl and conencted characters, but the story is very brilliant. Drama/ Rated/ Simple story.

Another movie to watch is "Old Boy". It is also brilliant movie and very popular. It is like an action/thriller.

And then there is a really funny romantic comedy "my little bride" which was also really popular staring the amazingly cute Moon Geun young.

Well, might be to late with my recommendations, but they could benefit someone else, so here we go...

I've finally reached the conclusion that Korean cinema is the 2nd best in the whole wide world after Hollywood, and giving them time and funding, they could easily surpass, or at least be on par with Hollywood...

Here are some movies off the top of my head:

- Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (복수는 나의 것)
- Oldboy (올드보이) [b][Highly Recommended][/b]
- Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (친절한 금자씨)
- Memories of Murder (살인의 추억)
- The Host (괴물)
- A Tale of Two Sisters (장화, 홍련)
- Natural City (내츄럴 시티)
- My Sassy Girl (엽기적인 그녀)
- Windstruck (내 여자친구를 소개합니다)
- 200 Pounds Beauty (미녀는 괴로워)
- Three... Extreme [Not totally Korean, just 1/3 of it, it's a great anthology movie, a MUST SEE]


I'm gonna add more recommendations later on, I don't remember all the great movies, but the 1st 4 movies I listed are some of the greatest movies I've ever seen, especially Oldboy...

I love My Sassy Girl and Windstruck. I cried a river in those movies! A must see also is My Wife is a Gangster 1,2,3. Its so funny. Ive also seen Tale of 2 Sisters but I dont like scary movies. Hee.. I enjoy watching comedy and drama and love stories. I should try to watch your recommendations. ",)

i thought "a millionaire's first love" was a really good movie.. some people think its very boring but i love those cheesy, predictable movies :P haha its sad though..
