New learner: Hello all.
I'm new to the site and new to learning Korean, so please be patient if you feel I'm making basic errors!
I'm struggling my way through a Korean textbook which is teaching me the formal endings. Im finding this confusing in itself as other websites that I reference tend to concentrate on polite and casual, but anyway.
I was wondering what this sentence means....
부모님께서도 안녕하십니까?
Is it ... Your parents too, how are they/are they well?
I think it is very formally written, is that correct?

I can't verify for correctness because I'm a newbie to Korean, but I know just enough to tell you that you're right. :D

Jenniferp, You are already right: I am a korean living in Korea.
부모님께서도 안녕하십니까(annyeong-hasimnikka)? means How are ur parents?, or are ur parents fine,too? you are quite right to translate to English from a korean greeting phrase that is quite formal and polite way of expression to be said to the elder people usually.
in addition to this, if i give u other type of expression on this,
You may either say ...
(whatever it is as a subject followed by)....안녕하세요(annyeong-haseyo)?(fine?). This expression is said as of polite but informal way also to the elder people. This type of informal expression could be recommended the non-korean speaker to use verbally quite acceptable in the daily conversation which is more friendly and softer as well.
