| Newly updated word chain game - I would suggest all of YOU to do this game like this. this is the game I hope you to be enhanced in korean alphabets(Hangeul) in order of sequence, so that You could find any words in the korean dictionary easy, where you need to know the order of alphabets. I will display the alphabets here once again in dictionary order. ㄱ,ㄲ,ㄴ,ㄷ,ㄸ,ㄹ,ㅁ,ㅂ,ㅃ,ㅅ,ㅆ,ㅈ,ㅉ,ㅊ,ㅋ,ㅌ,ㅍ,ㅎ so How to play is that the first player starts with the word which begins with ㄱ and next player with the word of initial consonant ㄲ and then with ㄴ etc etc. After ㅎ done, we will come back again to the first consonant ㄱ Only focus on the initial consonant. Who will be the very first player? challenge !! | |

| - No one comes yet to this topic up to now. Let me start with ㄱ, sounds G or K-as for initial ㄱ, while we are ruled to romanize it G by the Hangeul association of Korea. 감기, 곰, 겨울, 과자, 과일, 관광...가능하다, 고마워요, 구경하다, 길다, 가다, 고르다... cough, bear, winter, cookies, fruits and tourism....to be possible, thanks, look around, to be long, to go, to select(choose)... next player may start with ㄲ now. | |
| mteric | Saturday 03rd of February 2007 10:20:48 AM |
| - Good game idea! 꿈 - dream | |
| edwoodseo | Saturday 03rd of February 2007 12:20:24 PM |
| - Thank you for your appreciation and sincere contribution, mteric Some other words are nouns 꽃, 꿀, 꼴, 껌, 끝, 까치, 꾸지람/꾸중 verbs 끝나다, 끝내다, 깨다,깨우다, 깨뜨리다, 꼬다, 끄다 adj.까맣다, 까다롭다, adv.꾸불꾸불.... in translation for these, in the order flower, honey, fodder(or shape/form), chewing gum, the end, magpie, reproof, to be over, to finish, to wake, to awaken, to brake, to braid(twine), to switch(turn) off, to be deep black, fussy/choosy and to be sinuous ...., The next consonant to start with is ㄷ which sounds D or T, but which is ruled to be romanized D by the Hangeul assoiation of Korea. | |

| - That\'s so great contribution from, Eun_hye 대단히 감사합니다,Daedanhi Gamsahamnida (Thank you very much) I admire your passionating participations here and there. Followed by ㄷ we would continue to play this game with ㄸ which sounds double D. | |
| Percavius | Saturday 03rd of February 2007 05:43:19 PM |
| - 딸 - daughter Ah the double letters are hard to think of | |
| edwoodseo | Saturday 03rd of February 2007 06:13:49 PM |
| - Percavius, that\'s right there are not so many words in korean with double d as initial consonant, you got it well, though I can pick up some more like, 딸기= strawberry, 땀= sweat, 떡= rice cake, 땅= land/ground, 똑똑하다= smart/clever, 딱딱하다= rigid/hard, 떠들다= be loud, 따다= handpick, 떠나다= to leave Now You may have really hard time to find the words with ㄹ Better fix your eyes to the foreign borrowed words from English like mteric had picked up the other day in other topic as with 리본 which is Ribbon in English. Challenge !!! | |
| eun_hye | Sunday 04th of February 2007 12:45:58 AM |
| - this is hard...i think these are borrowed words from english though 리그 : league 리무진 : limousine 리셉션 : reception 리시버 : receiver 리사이틀 : recital and these are korean words, are they? 리더하다 : direct 리듬체조 : eurhythmics | |
| edwoodseo | Sunday 04th of February 2007 10:46:56 AM |
| - Yeah,oo You are doing always great deal, eun_hye Maewoo Gomaweoyo(=thanks very much) See, all the words You\'ve chosen here are the borrowed ones from English. We seem have quite a lot of borrowed words in korean language. We may have another word game with this thread, too. there are some more such as 라디오-radio, 롤러 스케이트-roller skate Yet, some of those borrowed words have the identical korean words as well for same meaning and some has none. Meanwhile, 리더하다 : direct 리듬체조 : eurhythmics ***리듬 체조-體操 : Rhythmic Sports Gymnastics - I found this as well from the dictionary I have. these are still the borrowed words too, and just correction is 리드하다 - To lead Salamat again for your sincere contribution, eun_hye. Now ㅁ is the initial consonant to start with by the next player. Must be easy to post by this character. | |
