First and Second Declensions - Hmm. Well these are pretty easy to remember. In case you're new to speaking Latin, declensions are noun endings. I only remember first and second declension (I remember some of the third declension, maybe I'll post it at a later date) so, for example, let's start off nice and easy. (p.s, I'm sorry I didn't include the vocative case, but in my Latin class we don't study the vocative case.)

---

1ST DECLENSION (feminine)

puella - girl

SINGULAR
Nominative: puella - the girl
Genitive: puellae - of the girl
Dative: puellae - to the girl
Accusative: puellam - the girl
Ablative: puella (exaggerated 'a' ending) - with the girl

PLURAL
Nominative: puellae - the girls
Genitive: puellarum - of the girls
Dative: puellis - to the girls
Accusative: puellas - the girls
Ablative: puellis - with the girls

---

2ND DECLENSION (masculine)

mensus - table

SINGULAR
Nominative: mensus - the table
Genitive: mensi - of the table
Dative: menso - to the table
Accusative: mensum - the table
Ablative: menso (exaggerated 'o' ending) - with the table

PLURAL
Nominative: mensi - the tables
Genitive: mensorum - of the tables
Dative: mensis - to the tables
Accusative: mensos - the tables
Ablative: mensis - with the tables

---

Hope I helped anyone who needed it. Please feel free to correct me if I made any mistakes. :)

- Hi!
Not to destroy your effort but it lacks a lot of stuff =o/
Unfortunately Latin is rather a complex language and to make your post complete you should also add some nouns that follow different rules but always belong to these declensions (some call them irregularities :D ). In addition, a whole case needs to be added, the vocative, I know it's not very used in classical Latin text but trust me, if ever youwant to join a Latin usergroup you need to know it...

anyway, keep up with your effort man! It's always very good to have someone striving to learn this notorious but still beautiful language! ;o)

- It is nice to see you trying. Looks good for the most part. One thing to remember though, the ablative case does not mean \"with,\" \"cum\" means with (and it\'s accusative by the way). The ablative case means \"by means of\" or \"of the \" (similar to \"by means of,\" not the genitive meaning for \"of the \").

..there is neuter in the second declension as well.

- Talking about the second declension, we can\'t omitt the declension of nouns such as \"Puer\", \"Arbiter\" and \"Vir\". If you want I could add them.
