| Translation please... - A guy I work with was wearing a t-shirt that had a phrase that we thought might be Latin, but we didn't know what it might mean. The phrase was dominus illu. Can someone tell me what it means? We were very curious about it at work, and he doesn't even know what it means. :p Thanks in advance. | |

| - hi! Can you be a bit more specific, maybe the context where you have those words would be good. Anyway i can tell you it IS Latin ;o) Dominus means master, owner...it's nominative case illu means more or less THAT... but I can't recognize any case in that, sorry! | |

| - Thank you. The only other words written on the shirt were "obey propaganda." It may not really be intended to make sense, we were just curious as to the meaning. | |

Illud means that (over there). As you said the so-called form illu doesn't exist. To me it seems Greenlandic and means house :D | |

| - yes, in fact that's what i thought of, I can't seem to remeber any latin name ening that way , not even in the 4th declesion... But If I remeber well there should be some 8few) proofs of medieval textes where they had written \"illu\" instead of illud... but that's for sure NOT the Latin we study at school, only at university level :D | |

| - Probably that was, as you said, an attempt by someone who doesn\'t speak Latin. Probably someone who just wanted to do something different. | |
