Sunday 16th of December 2007 01:39:16 AMAre there any Terry Pratchett fans?:
Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's, as he announced yesterday with a post to the web. But his wit is so sharp that I'm sure he's going to please us with his books many many years ahead.
I suggest this tread to be for your favourite quotes from his books. They helped me very much in my language studies and at the same time are very amusing and ingenious.
I'll start with two of my favourites:
"There was never anything to be gained from observing what humans said to one another - language was just there to hide their thoughts." - "Reaper man"
"You don't understand at all," said the wizard wearily. "I’m so scared of you my spine has turned to jelly, it's just that I’m suffering from an overdose of terror right now. I mean, when I’ve got over that then I'll have time to be decently frightened of you." - "The Colour of Magic"Anonymous

"Belief is one of the most powerful organic forces in the multiverse. It may not be able to move mountains, exactly. But it can create someone who can"

"Always be wary of any helpful item that weighs less than its operating manual."

"Always move fast, you never know who's catching up." (Moist von Lipwig)

I like all his books, but you can start with 'The Colour of magic' and 'The Light Fantastic'. My firts one was 'Eric' which is also a good start.
