Swedish-speaking Tiamat fans!: Hi!
If you like the Swedish rock band Tiamat and can speak Swedish, do you know what Johan Edlund says in the second verse of "Vote For Love"? I looked up the lyrics on various sites, which gave me a German lyric ("Wir haben niemals kampflos aufgegeben"). I've only been learning German for half a year but I know that he definitely wasn't singing it. I *think* he's speaking Swedish, because he is from Sweden and I recognise the sound of the language, but I could be wrong! I don't speak a word of it!
If you aren't familiar with Tiamat's music, but are curious as to what I'm going on about, here's the video of the song:

They're good, aren't they? lol.
It's between the lines "We've painted all doors Bible black" and "If there's light we'll claim it back".
It might mean the same as the German lyric, but just to make sure!
Thanks
Pumpkinheart

"Wir haben niemals kampflos aufgegeben"
means:
We - have - never - fight - given.up

something like "We've never given the fight up."

Ok, I listened to the song with good headphones now.

I agree that it can't be the german.

It's a 2:00 if someone else wants to listen.

EDIT:
Ok, I found the line transcribed:
"vi har aldrig gett oss utan strid"
Google translates that in a way that is identical to the German, I think. "we have never given us without a fight"

In other words, it's saying "We've never given up without a fight." (Either in German or Swedish, for whatever reasons.)

[See comments, and then the video itself at 2:00.)

You do?! :D
You know, I've never ever met another Tiamat fan! Nobody in Scotland- apart from me- has ever heard of them! I came across their songs from Wildhoney by accident on a Russian music website, they're amazing!
How did you discover them? Are they popular in Serbia?

TIAMAT: well, it was a long, long time ago. i heard Wildhoney (i guess) and since them i really love them. also, there were playing here in Serbia this summer at EXIT festival but, unfortunately, i wasn't there that day but the next one, at Ministry's gig. and when we are talking about popularity-it's depends on one's taste. i know people who love their music so, yes, they are popular here. also, i love Lucyfire (especialy as pure as S.I.N.)..btw, you have ?ur?evdan lyrics as your signature. how is that possible??? i was surprised by that but it's really GREAT!!!

I haven't heard as much Lucyfire as I have Tiamat, but I think they're really good too! I love The Pain Song, I can't stop listening to it! It's a shame you missed Tiamat at that festival, I've watched some of their live clips and they sound like a really good live band! I hope they come to Scotland one day...
Is Wildhoney your favourite of their albums? I like them all, but I'd say Wildhoney was the best.
I heard the Romany version of ?ur?evdan on Emir Kusturica's (I'm a MAD Kustu fan, lol) film "Time of the Gypsies" and fell in love with it. I looked it up on YouTube and found the Serbian version, which I also really liked, so I used the lyrics as my signature! Serbian is also one of my favourite languages, even though I can only say about 6 words in it or something, haha.
Isn't ?ur?evdan "St George's Day" in English?

Dobro ve?e, Gabriela! Kako si?
Thank you very much for teaching me the phrases! That was very kind of you :)
Can I ask you some stuff about ?ur?evdan? I'm really fascinated by Serbian culture too! How do you celebrate it, does everyone have a party? Are there certain customs? Does everyone in the Balkans celebrate it the same way or do the celebrations differ in each country?
Just one more favour :P How do you say "I'm Scottish" or "I'm from Scotland" in Serbian?
Sorry for all my questions!
