Tests of Proficiency in your country: Do you have any kind of test of proficiency for foreigns in your country? Do you have any kind of language school? In Spain we have "Instituto Cervantes". It's a language school where you just learn Spanish and they give you a diploma. Of course, we don't have any in Spain, it's abroad.

Here in Egypt, we have several international institutes that offer language courses and internationally recognized proficiency tests, like the infamous British Council, which is an international English language institute funded by the British government, and it offers proficiency tests, TOEFL tests, English language teaching licence tests,...

There's also the French cultural center (Centre français de culture et de coopération) which offers French language courses (which I've taken there :D) and also offers the DELF and DALF exams which are recognized by the EU

There's a Cervantes, but I don't know much about it, though.

There's Goethe Institute, that offers German language courses, and I believe they do have proficiency tests too

We have a Chinese cultural center, attached to the Chinese embassy, that offers Chinese (Mandarin) courses taught by native Chinese people who have actually learned Arabic, and they impress me each time I meet them...

There's a Japanese cultural center attached to the embassy and Japan Foundation, they offer Japanese language courses and JLPT tests, I was actually gonna take the JLPT there last December, but I got caught up with the university...

I believe there are more that I don't even know about, I think there's an Italian center, a South Korean center, a Russian center,... but I'm not sure about them, though..

Hola Fawzy,
