| Nepali - Namaste ~~~~ Shyam was helpful enough to write down translations for quite a few verbs while he was with me over winter break. I was thinking maybe we could work on conjugations & tenses. I know a little bit, but I'm not that great in that area. I also want to continue with some of the other things we've started (like the dialog & the health terms) if that's okay with everyone! Anyways here is the list of verbs I have: Accept Suikarnu. Add Jodnu/Thpnu Agree Sahamat hunu Aim Taaknu. Allow (allow to run-daudana dinu) Answer Uttar bhannu Appear dhekhinu Argue bahas garnu Arrive aaepugnu Ask Sodhnu Be Hunu Beat Pitnu Begin Suru garnu Believe Bishawas garnu Break Vacchaunu Build Banaunu( or Nirman garnu) Burn Balnu Buy Kinnu Call Bolaunu Care Herchaha garnu (Syahaar garnu) Carry Boknu Catch Samatnu Change Phernu (pariwartan garnu) Choose chaannu Clean safa garnu Climb chadnu Close banda garnu Collect jamma garnu Come aaunu Complete Pura garnu Connect Jodnu Cook Pakaunu Cost (paisa parnu) Count Gunnu Cover Chopnu Create Banaunu Cross katnu (same as to cut) Cry Runu Dance Nachnu Deliver puraunu Destroy Bhaatkaunu Die Marnu/(To kill -maarnu) Disappear Haraunu Discover Patta lagaunu Do Garnu Dress Kapada (clothes) lagaunu (to wear) Drink piunu Drive gaadi (vechile) chalaunu Drop Khasalnu Eat Khanu Encourage Utsaha Dinu (give) End samaapta garnu or pura garnu Enjoy moj garnu Examine jaach garnu/ jaachnu Expect aas garnu Fail fail hunu Fall ladnu Feed khuwaunu Feel mahasus Fight ladae khelnu/ladnu Find khojnu Finish sakaunu Fly udnu Forget birsanu Forgive maaf garnu Found Patta lagaunu Get paaunu Give Dinu Go Janu Grow Baadnu Hate Hela garnu Have Cha Hear sunnu Help maddat garnu/ sahayog garnu Hide lukaaunu Hit Hannu Hold Samatnu Hope aastha rakhnu Hurt Dukhaunu Identify thaha dinu Imagine kalpana garnu Improve Sudharnu Increase Badaunu Indicate Dhekhaunu Inform Janakari dinu Introduce Chinaunu Invite Nimantrana dinu Jump uffranu Keep rakhnu Kick laat marnu Kill marnu Know thaha paunu Laugh hasnu Learn Siknu, jannu, bujnu (to understand) Leave Chodnu Lie Dhatnu Like Man paraunu Link jodnu Listen Sunnu Live Bachnu Look Heranu Lose haraunu Love maya garnu Make banaunu Measure napnu Meet bhetnu Move hallenu Need chahinu Open kholnu Pay tirnu Pick uchalnu Play khelnu Point dhekhaunu Prepare tayar parnu Press thichnu Protect bachaunu Pull tannu Push dhakalnu Put rakhnu Rain pani (water) parnu Raise uchalnu Read padnu [paadhnu is to pass gas... be careful with this one ;)] Reduce Ghataunu Refuse Inkar garnu Release chodnu Remain rahi rahanu Remember samjhanu Remove hataunu Repeat dhoharaunu Reply jawaf dinu Require chahinu Rest thakae marnu Return phirta hunu Run Daudanu Save Bachaunu Say Bhannu See Dheknu Sell Bechanu Send Pathaunu Separate Chutaunu Shake Hallaunu Share Baadnu Shout Chichaunu Show Dhekhaunu Sing Gaunu Sit Basnu Sleep Sutnu Smile Muskuraunu Snow Heu Parnu Sound Suninu (to swell also) Speak Bolnu Stand Uvhinu Stay Basnu Stick Tasinu Stop Rokinu Study Padnu same as to read Succeed Safal hunu Suggest Samjhaunu Survive Bachnu same as to live Take Linu Talk Bolnu same as to speak Teach Sikaunu Tell Bhannu same as to say Test Jachnu Think Sochnu Throw Faalnu Touch Chunu Travel Vraman garnu Understand Bujnu Use Chalaunu Visit Ghumnu or same as to travel Wait Parkhanu Walk Hidnu Want Chahanu Wash Dhunu Watch Hernu Wear Lagaunu Win Jeetnu Work Kam garnu Worry Pir garnu Write Lekhnu whew... | - Thank you! I hope you're having a good time over there in Nepal. I'm looking forward to going there myself sometime. There is a study abroad thing in Nepal @ my college, but they cancled it because of the political situation over there. :( Anyways I'm looking forward to finishing some of these projects with everyone! I've been reading some more about verb conjugations & tenses, so I'm trying to organize it all. | |

| - Hi Guys! Lassi! How was your trip? I am finalizing my trip for this summer. I'll be in Nepal June 1 to approximately August 15th. So far, I'll be working with the same group that Lassi went with last year, and then spending part of the time in Kathmandu working at Tilganga and possibly another hospital. I've been trying to find an advisor for a project here in Pittsburgh, and so far have a lead with Infectious Disease track, however, I am very concerned that I have not been able to get a hold of my friend and advisor who moved to Utah, so I am waiting to see what I will actually be doing in terms of project. I'll let you know how everything gets settled! Lindsay! Thank you so much for the list!!!!! I will print and study it! | |
