| On-line instructional materials for Pashto - Several years ago, the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) in Washington, D.C., produced a substantial volume of instructional materials for Pashto. A good deal of this material is now on-line, and can be downloaded for free (as PDF files) from the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) website at http://www.eric.ed.gov/ Just type in the word “Pashto” in the “Search the Database” box and you’ll see the files available. (Note: Not all the files are available; in some cases, the “original” versions are not available on-line, but the “revised” (and presumably improved) versions are.) These materials are a great resource for learners of Pashto, amounting to many hundreds of pages in all. | |

| - I can truely say that this is the best language resource I have ever found. To have all of those textbooks available for free (yes you can download full copies of SOME of the books) however the one I received which was the best available copy was in very bad condition, even though it was an origianl. I'am still trying to download the revised edition of another copy. The transliterated versions helped IMENSLEY in trying to figure out what I could barelt see in the originals. | |

| Pashto materials - Paul8, I'm glad you found this material useful. I was also impressed with the volume and quality of materials available, although you're right about the poor visual quality of some of the documents. Note that Indiana University will "soon" (?) be making some newly-produced introductory materials for Pashto available. The relevant website is: http://www.indiana.edu/~celcar/language.html Good luck with your studies. | |

| Eric database - I have tried the Eric database for Pashto material, but there is none available as complete texts. Maybe they have removed it again. Does anyone know where this material is available (some people must have downloaded it in time) ? | |

| Still available - I just went to the ERIC site and searched for "Pashto"; there were 46 items listed, a good many of which were indeed available as full PDF texts. (In some cases, the original versions are not available, but the revised versions are. In addition, the old materials from back in the '60s are listed but are not available, but most of the materials produced in the '90s by the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington are indeed available - the revised versions in particular.) Check again and go through the whole list carefully, and I think you'll find a wealth of materials. Good luck! | |

| CAL materials - I was originally taught Pashto using these materials, but found them useless when it came to learning grammar. The only material that helped me with grammar came from Pakistan...books that are very hard to come by. I've not found any material online. What's worked for me is translating BBC Pashto articles. Paul8, I've got a great book for you if you're interested. I'll send it to you, just let me know. | |

| Book(s) from Pakistan - Valhalla, could you provide the title and author inforamtion for the books(s) from Pakistan that you recommend, as well as, if you have the time, a bit of description? | |
