| gerúndio - Hi, i have some little problem with the gerúndio form. I know where to use 'estar + -ndo' "eu estou cansando" i'd like to know when to use 'andar + -ndo' and viver + -ndo' andar is used not all the time but ?! and what about viver ? it's used "sempre" ? | |

| - Sorry, i'm half asleep, thats why lol. well i don't understand neither what the teacher said on the last course. she speak only in portuguese and i don't understand it at 100% so i missed a part. I wrote to her and asked to tell me more about, but she told me that we will discuss of that again on the next course. I just wanted to understand about that before then. let me reformulate the sentence : To tell the action of what we are doing, in Portugal they use "estar a" but in brazil (the way i'm learning portuguese) it's "estar + ndo" like in that sentence "eu estou cansando" it said that i'm doing an action right now, at the moment. Now, my teacher also talked about "andar + ndo" and viver + ndo" she wrote me back this : __________________________________________________________ Na próxima aula, vamos fazer mais exercícios com os 3 gerúndios. andar + ndo = às vezes (parfois), nem sempre, de vez em quando viver + ndo = sempre, continuamente Até quinta! __________________________________________________________ thanks for replying. | |

| - cansando = a cansar (in Portugal) maybe: eu estou cansando = eu estou a cansar-me (in Portugal) | |

| - In english you have the ing form, in portuguese its ando - endo - indo. Ex: I am walking ( verb to walk ) Eu estou andando ( verbo andar ) I am living ( verb to live) Eu estou vivendo ( verbo viver ) i am falling ( verb to fall ) Eu estou caindo ( verbo cair ) We dont use to say ¨eu estou cansando¨. Like in english we use to say ¨eu estou cansado(a) - I am tired¨ You can conjugue other verbs and use the gerund form too. Ex: I go walking Eu vou andando There is idiomatics expressions that maybe you are still not able to understand like: Eu ando cansado I walk tired ( weird huh. But it means Acctualy I am tired ) Eu vivo assistindo televisao ( Verbo Viver - Verbo Assistir ) I live watching television ( It mean Im always watching television ) I hope this helps you, this is spooken in Brasil. | |
